We are very fortunate to have 3 beautiful parks within our community. Our Parks team is very keen on making these spaces even better for our families and children, and visitors. We are always looking for more ideas and support.
We are trying to make these spaces litter-free and child-friendly at all times.
Please make use of the bins.
Report overflowing bins and illegal dumping on the CoCT C3 app or call 0860 103 089 or online at www.capetown.gov.za/servicerequests

CHOO CHOO PARK
Choo Choo Park – our famous train has a history ……. The Choo Choo Park is named after the steam train installed in the middle of the park. The 0-4-0 saddle-tank locomotive was built by the Brooks Locomotive Works in 1896 with the serial number 2725. It was originally run by the Transvaal & Delgoa Bay Collieries Ltd near Witbank after which it was acquired by the City of Cape Town to work the Dock Road and the Table Bay Power Stations at the foreshore. During this later period of its working life the train acquired the nickname “Dyna-Mo” or “Dinah-Mo”. The train was moved to its present position in Choo Choo Park some time after the closure of the power stations in 1962. (Wikipedia, 2024)
The Choo Choo Park is the 4th largest park (out of 17 parks) in Ward 58, measuring 7728,41 square metres. The park is situated at the corner of Cleveland and Belvedere Roads, Claremont.
